ARMY COOKS

REPLACEMENT BY WOMEN IN TRAINING CAMPS. PROPOSED BY MR COATES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DARGAVILLE. May 7. The necessity of making the most of the manpower of New Zealand in the present struggle was stressed by Mr Coates. M.P.. member of the War Cabinet, last night. The co-operation of all sections of the community was necessary to this end. and he stressed the need for an inventory both of men and material with a view to greater effort. He saw no reason why men cooks in the training camps should not be taken from that work and women put in their places. It would relieve the men for other Army jobs and he hoped the change would soon be made.
