WOMEN’S DIVISION

MEETING OF RANGITUMAU BRANCH. PATRIOTIC AND OTHER ACTIVITIES. The monthly meeting of the Rangitumau branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the hall. Mrs James presided over a fair attendance of members. It was decided to send £2 2s to the Wairarapa Provincial Housekeepers Fund and from a special fund 17s to the Palmerston North Rest Home. Mrs Duckett was awarded the first prize for the points competition held during the year and Miss I. Harvey received the second prize. There was a goed collection of jams and jellies for the A.N.A. hamper and the winners of this competition were Mrs Macdonald 1, Mrs James 2. The many articles for local men overseas are to be packed and sent. There was also a small parcel for each of the men at present in camp.

The competition for next month will be for six pieces of shortbread. Each member is asked to lake two dozen pieces, which will be forwarded to the A.N.A. The guessing competition conducted by Mrs Maconald was won by Mrs James. The decorated bowl was won by Mrs Idacdonald and Mesdames Wrigley, James. Duckett and Morris were equal for second place. The blooms competition resulted as follows:— One bloom, Mrs James 1, Mrs Duckett 2; three blooms, Mrs E. Wilton 1, Mrs MacDonald 2.

The hostesses for the day were Mrs McGovern and Miss A. Harvey.
