FIGHTER SQUADRON
CONSISTING ENTIRELY OF NEW ZEALANDERS FLYING SPITFIRES GIVEN BY DOMINION. TRAINING COMPLETED. i By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright! (Received This Day, 12.40 p.m.) LONDON, May 6. An R.A.F. fighter squadron, consisting entirely of New Zealanders, has completed training at a North of England station and is now in operation. The formation of the squadron brought together about 24 New Zealanders from squadrons to which they were originally posted. The squadron leader is a twenty-five-year-old of Dannevirke, formerly Flight-Commander of a Czech fighter squadron. The average age of the squadron members is twentytwo and nearly half the personnel are sergeant pilots who are using Spitfires contributed by New Zealand.
