HEAVY RAID ON CLYDESIDE CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE DONE. MERSEYSIDE ALSO BOMBED. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright! LONDON. May 6. The German attack was directed mainly against the Clydeside. The assault began soon after the moon rose. R.A.F. fighters soared up to meet the raiders. The German raids were widespread. A communique issued this morning says the operations were concentrated on the Clydeside. The Merseyside was also attacked for the fifth night in succession. There were many incidents in other parts of the country, and in Northern Ireland. On the Clydeside considerable damage was done and there were many casualties. The Merseyside attack was on a smaller scale, but there was considerable damage.
