ALLEGED INTERFERENCE
INCIDENT AT WANGANUI. TBy Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, May 6. The Wanganui district committee today dismissed the appeal of J. H. Jefferd against the decision of the judicial committee of the Wanganui Jockey Club regarding an inquiry into alleged interference by Surveyor-General with Khurja in the Matarawa Hack Handicap at the Wanganui meeting at Awapuni on April 5. The judicial committee decided that “though there may have been crowding at the finish it was unintentional on the part of Broughton, rider of Surveyor-General, and after hearing evidence the committee decided that the placings be left as Surveyor-General, 1; Khurja, 2.” The district committee found “that the evidence before the district committee was not sufficient to disturb the finding of the judicial committee and the appeal is dismissed, the deposit of £5 to be refunded.” It is understood that Jefferd intends to appeal to the Racing Conference.
