WOMEN’S DIVISION
CARTERTON BRANCH MEETING. ARRANGEMENTS FOR BIRTHDAY PARTY. (‘•Times-Age’’ Special.) The monthly meeting of the Women’s Division of the Farmers' Union was held in the Masonic Hall, Carterton. Mrs H. E. Ordish (president) presided over a good attendance. Members were reminded, of the birthday party to be held on May 16 at 1 p.m. in the Masonic Hall. It was decided to hold a “bring and buy.” stall for the purpose of raising funds for the branch quoto for the convalescent home in Palmerston North. Arrangements were made regarding soldiers’ parcels and members wishing to help may bring gifts to the birthday party. Mrs Anderson reported that all sick •members were well on the way to recovery. Members were pleased to receive a cheque for £5 Is donated by the Carterton Farmers' Union to the Rest Room. Mrs Peters was chosen as delegate for the conference and Mrs Allen and Mrs McKenzie delegates to the Provincial Council. The monthly competition was for a maderia cake, the results being: Mrs McKenzie, 1; Miss Arcus, 2. Mrs Pink was the judge. These cakes are to be forwarded to the Y.M.C.A. at Trentham Military Camp, together with jam, sauces, honey, etc. Mrs Hawker kindly judged the flowers and shrubs, the results being: —Mrs Couper 1 and 2, Mrs Ordish 3. An interesting lecture given by Mrs Loftus on home-nursing was greatly appreciated by members. Afternoon tea was served.
