W.C.T.U.
BUSINESS AT MONTHLY MEETING. Miss Tankersley presided at this month’s meeting of the W.C.T.U. Several apologies were received. Mrs Sims led the devotions. A period of silence was observed in memory of the late Mrs T. E. Taylor, a past Dominion President, and Sir Chas. M. Luke, who had been a stalwart in the Temperance cause. The president and secretary were appointed to represent the union at a meeting of women’s organisations on May 28. Miss Tankersley agreed to represent the union on the Red Cross in lieu of Mrs Speight. The temperance fact as supplied reads as follows: "The wages lost, the work spoilt, the health ruined, through drinking are beyond computation."— Sir Thos. Olliver, M.D. Mrs Speight read several extracts from the British "White Ribbon." Mesdames Coddington and MoricG were the hostesses. After the singing of the Temperance Doxclogy Miss Tankersley pronounced the Benediction.
