The Hon. R. Semple, ' Minister of National Service, is visiting Christchurch. The Hon. J. G. Barclay. Minister of Marketing, is leaving Wellington tonight for Christchurch. At last night’s meeting of the Masterton A. and P. Association, Mr- N. Blatchford was appointed delegate to the Royal Show Society’s annual conference. to be held on June 26. The Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer, Minister of Health, left Wellington yesterday on an official visit to the King Country and Rotorua districts. Before returning to Wellington about the middle of next week he will also visit New Plymouth. News that their son. Squadron Leader Douglas P. Lee, has been promoted to the rank of wing commander has been received by Mr and Mrs Percy G. Lee, Remuera, Auckland. Wing Commander Lee, who is 32. is married and has one child. The Rev. T. W. Armour, of Christchurch, whose broadcasts, “Braid Scots Services,” have been appreciated by all Scots people throughout the Dominion will conduct the morning service at Knox Church. All Scots people should avail themselves of the privilege of hearing Mr Armour. His subject will be “Leevin in a Muckle Hoose.” The death occurred in Napier yesterday of Mr David Addison, aged 8C years. Mr Addison arrived at Napier in the early 'eighties, and was associated with the late Mr A. B. Thompson as assistant master at the main school for a number of years, transferring later to the headmastership of the Blenheim school. After completing a successful term there, he was appointed senior inspector of schools for the Marlborough district. He retired from the profession about 12 years ago. For some years he lived in Vancouver. Canada, where his wife died.
The funeral of the late Mr Henry Rolf took place in Masterton yesterday afternoon. There was a large and representative attendance. Services at the residence and graveside were conducted by the Rev John Davie and Mr R. Baikie took the Odd Fellows' service at the cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs R. Baikie and G. Murdoch (Manchester Unity of Odd Fellows); G. Bilderbeck, W. Aitken. I. Sutherland and S. Sharrnan Wreaths were received, among others, from officers and members of the Lodge Shamrock, Rose and Thistle. Masterton Manchester Unity of Odd Fellows.
