WANGANUI DEFEAT KING’S FIFTH CONSECUTIVE TIME. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, May 2. Playing with better combination in the backs, the Wanganui Collegiate School first fifteen beat King’s College, Auckland, by 3 points (an unconverted try) to nil, in the annual Rugby football contest today. The many particularly bright interludes in the game were to the liking of the large crowd of spectators. The Collegiate School backs made better use of the ball, revealing far more pace and trickiness than the opposition. whose work at times faltered badly by the three-quarter line taking the ball standing still. The King’s forwards made a good showing, playing tenaciously in the second half, but were unable to cross Wanganui’s line. Newman, scored for Wanganui. Meuli, half-back, and Donald, Jones, and T. W. Smith were prominent for Wanganui in the backs, while Gibbons and Hoe, a Chinese boy, revelled in the hard going in the forwards. Towle, Campbell, Fisher and Bongard stood cut for King's College. The match was Wanganui's fifth consecutive win.
