EKETAHUNA

FOOTBALL MEETING OF LOCAL CLUB. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Eketahuna Football Club was held at the Fire Station last night, the president. Mr C. 11. Parsons, being in the chair. The balance-sheet, which was adopted. showed a small credit balance. As there did not appear any-possi-bility of fielding a team in the competitions this year, owing to many members being either overseas or in Territorial camps, the meeting decided that the club go into recess in the meantime.

It was decided to donate the club’s funds to the Eketahuna ladies’ committee. Votes of thanks to the chairman and to the secretary, Mr W. Olsen, Junr.. concluded the meeting.

MISSIONARY UNIONS

PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH ACTIVITIES. The Eketahuna Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union met recently at the church. It was decided to knit peggy squares so that a quilt could be made and forwarded to the local Patriotic Sewing Circle. The subject for the meeting was “Our Maori Mission Field.” An excellent paper was read dealing with missionary work in the Urewera Country. Members were asked to bring old clothes to the next meeting. These are to be forwarded to the Maori Mission Sation at Maungapohatu. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Miss M. Hooper and Mrs J. J. Robinson.
