EKETAHUNA SALE
Associated Auctioneers report on their Eketahuna Cattle Fair held in conjunction with the weekly sale on Thursday as follows: A small entry of sheep and a large yarding of cattle (approximately 700 head) came forward. With the exception of a few pens the cattle did not show quality, and competition on mixed sorts was not good. For vzell bred cattle, however, there was a good enquiry and prices for these were slightly in advance of those ruling at cattle fairs held in the neighbouring districts of late. There were also quite a few pens of fats yarded comprised ’mainly of unfinished sorts and prices remained on a par. There was a small yarding of sheep for which there was fair competition and prices remain on a similar market to last week.
A good clearance was effected under the hammer and the following list of principal sales will indicate values: — Cattle: 2Jyr P.A. steers, a/c Sheehan Estate, £6 12s; do a/c Herbert Bros., £6 8s; do a/c Gray Bros., £6 2s: other smaller sorts, £5 10s, £5 15s to £5 17s 6s; 18-months P.A. steers, a/c Anderson Est.. £5 6s: do others. £4. £4 ss. £4 12s 6d; small do, £3 15s to £3 17s Gd: weaner P.A. steers. £3; small do. £2 8s to £2 10s: medium 2Jyr P.A. heifers, £4; do £3 10s to £3 12s Gd; 18-months P.A. heifers. £2 to £2 8s: light fat P.A. cows, £5, £5 10s to £5 18s; light fat
