COURSING
WAIRARAPA CLUB’S MEETING.
RECORD ENTRIES RECEIVED.
Record entries have been received lor Saturday's coursing meeting at Altura Plumpton. Both stakes have filled, the puppy event of 16 dogs and the open of 12 dogs. A good afternoon's coursing is assured. Owners from outside districts have given good support to the local club, which is no doubt due to the efficient manner in which the sport is controlled here.
The open stake has some well tried and successful dogs competing. The local champion. White Lie, owned and trained by Mr W. L. Jensen, is a likely winner, with Miss A. Perry's (Napier) Royal Artillery in close support. This dog has had a successful season on the racing track and is a class performer on the plumpton too, being the winner of the Centennial. Purse at Hastings last year.
Other good dogs running are Battleship and Loch Lomond (Hastings), who can be relied upon to gallop well. Both have a good turn of speed. The first course is timed to commence at 1.45 p.m. Afternoon tea will be obtainable on the ground. There will be no charge for cars, which can be driven right up to the plumpton.
