BADMINTON
ST. MATTHEW’S CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING LAST NIGHT. Prospects for the coming season were considered excellent at the annual meeting of the St. Matthew's Badminton Club held in the Parish Hall, Masterton, last night. The Ven. Archdeacon E. J. Rich presided over a large attendance. In commenting on the result of the year’s working Archdeacon Rich stated that from every point of view the club had experienced a most satisfactory season. The problems arising out of an acute shortage of shuttles were fully discussed. It was pointed out that the price per dozen had risen from 19s 6d last year to 265. In view of the membership being at the same high level it was agreed that subscriptions be the same as last year. Flaying nights were fixed by popular vote for Mondays and Fridays. It was decided to open the season with a Yankee tournament commencing at 7 o'clock on Monday. April 28. A special invitation was extended to members of the Pahiatua Club to be present. The election of officers resulted: — President, Archdeacon Rich; vice-pre-sidents, the Revs. V. W. Joblin, H. Taepa; hon secretary-treasurer, Mr N. W. Ninnes (re-elected); club captain, Mr W. L. Harrington (re-elected); committee, Mrs Norman Cameron, Misses N. Richards. G. Baird, F. Roebuck, Messrs C. J. Carle. N. W. Cameron and W. Marchbank; delegates to the Wairarapa Badminton Association.
