MISSING RADIUM

SEARCH OF CITY DUMP IN CANTERBURY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Radium valued at over £l5O is possibly lying in a portion of the city rubbish dump at Spreydon. A plaque of radium is missing from the rooms of a city doctor and it is feared that the valuable metal was accidently thrown out with rubbish and removed to the clump. This has been inspected and the approximate spot where the radium may be has been located. An electroscope from Canterbury College will next be used to ascertain if the radium is present in the dump. Should the presence of the radium be detected, careful digging operations will have to be undertaken.
