WILL FIGHT ON

WITH ALL AVAILABLE RESOURCES KING’S MESSAGE TO PEOPLE. TRIBUTE TO BRITISH ALLIES. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, April 23. King George of the Hellenes today in a message to the Greek people said that the hard destinies of war had compelled him to leave Athens together with the Crown Prince and the lawful Government of the country and to transfer the capital to Crete, from where the fight, imposed on them by the unprovoked aggression of two empires, would be continued. After stressing that it was his will, as well as that of the Government and the people, to continue to- resist to the end, King George paid a tribute to the heroic resistance of their British allies, who were still fighting on Greek soil. King George then explained that without the knowledge of the Government, an armistice had been forced on the Greek army of the Epirus. This army, retreating from Albania, had been isolated by the German drive to Janiqa. This act, however, was not binding on the free will of the nation, the King or the Government, which would continue the war with all their remaining resources in order to guard their supreme interests. It was for this reason that the capital was being removed to Crete till final victory was won. King George exhorted his people to place their trust in God and the country’s destiny in spite of all difficulties. A communique states that the Greek and British Imperial forces are being attacked along the new line of defence. HEAVY LOSSES SUFFERED BY ENEMY. GREEK OFFICIAL REPORT. (Received This Day, 10.38 a.m.) LONDON, April 23. A Greek High Command broadcast from Athens last night stated: “Our withdrawal has been carried out without serious incidents. The enemy suffered heavy losses.” ISLAND OF LEMNOS CAPTURED BY GERMANS. ACCORDING TO ANKARA MESSAGE. LONDON. April 23. A message from Ankara says the Germans are reported to have captured the Greek island of Lemnos, in the Aegean Sea. '
