TABLE TENNIS
MASTERTON WINTER SPORTS CLUB ANNUAL MEETING HELD LAST NIGHT. l ARRANGEMENTS FOR OPENING SEASON. The annual meeting of the Masterton Winter Sports Club was held last night at the Mo Kato Scout Den, when there was a good attendance of members and new members. At present there is every indication that the club will have a most successful year in spite of war conditions. The annual report and balance sheet for the past year was adopted. The election of officers resulted: — President, Mr J. Haywood; vice-presi-dents, Messrs E. G. Frost, L. T. Daniell, M. Winslade and J. Nicholls; hon. auditor, Mr E. Henderson; secretary-trea-surer, Miss Molly Scanlon; club captain, Mr N. Leadley; joint selectors and handicappers, Mrs J. Nicholls and Mr M. Winslade; delegates to Wairarapa Table Tennis Association, Mrs J. Nicholls, Miss M. Scanlon and Mr Winslade.
It was decided to hold an opening night for club members on Saturday, and the official opening night on Saturday, May 3. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr P. L. Person for the work he had done for the club in acting as auditor for the past fifteen years. It was decided to send him a letter of appreciation.
It was also mentioned that three members of the club, Messrs K. Brader, A. Howes and G. Smith, were with the armed forces and the club wished these members the very best of luck during their period on active service, and a speedy and safe return. A hearty vote of thanks was passed tb the-chairman.
A handicap tournament (singles) was won by I. Coleman in the men’s section, and Mrs J. Nicholls in the ladies'.
Supper was served by the Ladies’ Committee.
