SOME CLAIMS IN ITALY. MUSSOLINI AS “GREATEST STATESMAN.” (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, April 21. In spite of the contempt in which Germany now holds Italy, Mussolini still appears unwilling to concede Hitler the position of the “world’s greatest statesman.” While sycophantic eulogies of the Fuehrer on the occasion of his birthday are still pouring from the Nazi Press and radio, the Rome wireless, broadcasting birthday greetings, stated: ‘Herr Hitler is no doubt one of the greatest men in history, but fate decided that he should only reveal himself after Signor Mussolini had been acknowledged everywhere as the greatest statesman in the world.”
