EKETAHUNA
WOMEN’S DIVISION. ADDRESS BY MISS JOHNSTON. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the April meeting of the Eketahuna branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, Mrs C. Welch presided over an excellent attendance of members. A.ll arrangements in connection with the entertaining of returned soldiers on Anzac Day were completed. Miss Hazel Johnstone was the speaker for the afternoon and she gave an interesting and instructive address on “Home Making.” This talk was much enjoyed by the members, and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Miss Johnstone by acclamation.
An apology for non-attendance was received from Mrs Groves.
The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted: President, Mrs T. Hancock; vice-presidents, re-elected; committee, re-elected, with the exception of Mrs D. Fraser; Mrs W. Olsen was elected the town representative; secretary, Mrs M. Stone-Wigg; treasurer, Mrs S. Smith; tea hostess, Mrs E. Albrechtsen; housekeeping secretary and delegate to Wairarapa executive, Miss A. Anderson; advisory members, Mesdames McAnulty and Petersen.
General regret was expressed when it was learned that the president, Mrs C. Welch, would be leaving the district in the near future. The treasurer’s annual report was adopted. One ’ new member, Mrs Harvey Simpson, was welcomed. A competition for an eiderdown quilt was completed, the winner being Mrs O. Cooper, of Rongomai.
The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames H. Brookes and A. E. Brittain.
