CROSSING SMASH

ACCIDENT NEAR HENDERSON RAILWAY STATION. TWO POWER BOARD MEN INJURED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 21. Two men were injured, one of them seriously, in a level crossing accident near Henderson Railway Station this morning. They were in a Waitemaia Electric Power Board service truck which was hit at the South Road crossing by the train due to arrive at Henderson from. Auckland shortly befoie noon. The injured were: R. Proctor, married, aged 26, of Henderson, concussion and head injuries. Condition serious. J. C. Mackenzie, married, aged 36, of St. Heliers, concussion. Condition not serious.

Both men are employees of the Waitemata Power Board. Most of the woodwork of the body was smashed to pieces, extension and step ladders inside were shattered, the bonnet was ripped off, the bumper bar broken into several parts, and the cab badly dented. Pieces of wreckage were scattered over a large area. The railway engine was not damaged and the service proceeded normally.
