The Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) left Wellington last night for Rotorua. He expects to return to Wellington on Thursday morning.
Dr Kenneth I. Woodward, wlff? practised at Takaka, Nelson, for 17 years, died last week at Waiuku. Dr Woodward was a graduate of Otago University and left Takaka some years ago to acquire a farm at Waiuku. Mr R. C. Cox, newly-appointed Consul-General for the United States in New Zealand, arrived in Wellington by the Limited express from Auckland on Saturday. He was welcomed on behalf of the Government by Mr C. A. Berendsen, permanent head of the Prime Minister’s Department. He was met also by Mr R. English, United States Consul in Wellington, and Mr J. Horner, vice-consul, and Mr W. J. Garnett, official secretary to the British High Commissioner.
