SALE AT FEILDING A QUIET TONE. FAT SHEEP VALUES IMPROVE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, April 18. There was still a quiet tone in the market at Feilding today, though several good sales were made in the case of quality stock. The following is the range of prices:— Fat Sheep: Ewes and wethers made improved values and there was a good clearance, competition being fairly keen. Extra prime wethers, 25s 4d, 26s Id; prime wethers, 22s lOd, 22s 4d; Unfinished, 20s, 22s 4d; extra prime ewes, 12s 4d, 13s lid; prime ewes, 10s 4d, Ils lOd; light, from 8s 4d; fat lambs, good, 22s lOd; light, 15s, 19s lOd. Store Sheep: There was a smaller entry in all classes. Stores were in fair demand, with improved prices for better quality lines. Best wether lambs, 13s Bd, 14s Gd; smaller, 7s, Ils 4d; ewe lambs, fair, 17s lOd; poor, 6s 2d, 9s; black face lambs, good, 15s 3d, 19s; average lots, Ils 3d, 14s 3d; small, 7s, 10s lOd; forward wethers, 20s, 20s 7d; backward, 16s; four-year ewes, 13s Bd, 14s 6d; two-tooth ewes, 25s 7d, 28s 9d. Store Cattle: The market for cattle was unchanged, with many lines passed in. Two-year A.A. steers, good, £5 ss, £5 15s; others, £4 ss, £4 16s; fat and forward bullocks, £8 16s; yearling heifers, £1 12s 6d, £2 ss; works cows, £1 ss, £2 10s. Fat Cattle: Beef showed an improvement, notwithstanding the fairly heavy entrv. Medium prime cows, £6 17s 6d, £7 7s Cd; light, £5 15s, £6 12s 6d; ex-dairv sorts, £3 12s 6d, £5 10s; light steers, £6 7s 6d, £7 12s 6d; unfinished, £4 15s, £5 15s; prime heifers, £5 12s 6d, £7 7s 6d; others, £5 12s 6d, £5 17s 6d; bullocks, £9 12s 6d. £ll 17s 6d; vealers, £1 2s 6d, £3 12s 6d. Pigs: A light supply sold at late rates. Weaners, 6s, 14s; slips, 14s 6d, 19s; stores, 20s, 295.

GOOD DEMAND FOR ALL CLASSES PRACTICALLY A TOTAL' CLEARANCE Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows: A good yarding of sheep and cattle and a large yarding of pigs came forward at Carterton sale yesterday, and was offered to a fair attendance. All classes of stock sold well up to late rates and practically a total clearance was effected under the hammer. The following are some of the realisations: — Sheep: Heavy fat lambs, 25s to 27s Gd; fat lambs, 19s, 22s 6d to 235; fat wethers, to 245; fat ewes, 10s, Ils to Ils 6d; light fat ewes, 8s to 9s 6d; ewes r.w.S.D. ram to Ils; fat and forward b.f. lambs, to 18s lOd; b.f. lambs, 14s 7d, 15s to 16s 4d; small b.f. lambs, 8s Gd, 10s, to 12s Id: woolly wether lambs, 12s Id to 14s; small shorn wether lambs, to 7s lOd; store ewes, to ss.
