HOURS OF BOMBING
I ‘ LATEST NAZI RAID ON PORTSMOUTH EXTENSIVE DAMAGE DONE' TO HOUSES. SOME CASUALTIES REPORTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.10 a.m.) LONDON, April 18. Processions of enemy planes heavily attacked Portsmouth last night. The raid began soon after dark and lasted for several hours. The bright orange flashes of exploding bombs Jit up the sky and houses were constantly shaken. Bombs in another area extensively damaged houses and killed four children and one woman and injured several other persons. The German News Agency stated that strong formations attacked Portsmouth and caused large fires in the region of the dockyards and arsenal.
