TENNIS FINALS. SHIELD WON BY OTAGO. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. The finals of the tennis section of the New Zealand University tournament were played at Paekakariki yesterday, the Miramar courts being unfit for play because of the recent bad weather. In the final of the men's singles. Cope (Victoria) beat Kelly (Otago), 6-1. 7-5. In the women's singles championship. Miss Warren (Auckland) is to play Miss Howie (Auckland) in Auckland. The result will not affect the points for the tennis cup or the New Zealand University tournament shield.

The combined doubles championship resulted in Childs and Miss Brown (Otago) beating Larsen and Miss Marshall (Victoria). 6-1. 6-2.

The men’s doubles championship resulted in Baird and Cope (Victoria) beating Childs and Caughey (Otago). 6-2. 6-2.

In the women's doubles championship, Misses Howie and Warren (Auckland) beat Misses Marshall and MacMorran (Victoria). 7-5, 6-1.

Points for the tennis cup were:—Victoria 13. Auckland 10, Otago 9 Canterbury 3.

Final points for the tournament shield were:—Otago 29, Auckland 21.?. Victoria 12], Canterbury 8. Canterbury won the wooden spoon.-
