SUCCESSFUL RAID
MADE BY NORWEGIAN DESTROYER • OIL FACTORY DESTROYED. VALUABLE SUPPLIES LOST TO GERMANY. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.46 a.m.) RUGBY, April 16. The Norwegian Admiralty in London today issued a communique: “A destroyer recently transferred from the United States Navy and now serving with the Royal Norwegian Navy carried out a successful raid on Ocskjord, near Hammerfest, in Northern Norway, on the night of April 11. The object of the raid was to destroy a fish oil factory, the output of which. is being taken by Germany. This fish oil is of the greatest importance to Germany, where it is principally used in the manufacture of explosives. The raid was completely successful. All the machinery in the fish oil factory was destroyed. There was no interference from the Germans. The operation was carried out entirely by Norwegian personnel. The planning and preparation of the raid were carried out in co-op-eration with the British Admiralty.
