ENEMY FORCES IN LIBYA

Constant and Successful Naval Bombardment NAZI POSITIONS AND TROOP CONCENTRATIONS SUFFER NO CHANGE IN POSITION AT TOBRUK (By Telegraph—Press Association. —Copyright.) LONDON, April .16. The Admiralty reports that enemy forces on the Libyan coast are being constantly and successfully bombarded by British warships. The commander-in-chief in the Mediterranean reports that enemy positions and troop concentrations on the escarpment road west of Solium have been bombarded with partcularly good results. An aerodrome west of Tobruk was also heavily shelled and at least five enemy aircraft were destroyed on the ground. A Cairo communique reports that British patrols in the Solium sector have taken more prisoners and have caused the enemy losses in men and vehicles. The situation in the Tobruk area is unchanged. Well-informed quarters in Cairo state that there is no indication of the Nazis having increased the strength of their forward units in Libya. Hard fighting has occurred in the Solium area and the enemy losses have run into hundreds. The destruction of a further six enemy aircraft and considerable damage and confusion to enemy troop concentrations and motor transport convoys are reported as the result of British air activity, in which the enemy has been given very little respite.
