R.A.F. ATTACKS BORKUM & NORTH GERMANY DIRECT HIT ON ENEMY SHIP. DOCKS AT BOULOGNE BOMBED. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, April 16. A formation of Blenheim bombers of the coastal command, at dusk, made a low level attack on Borkum, when defence positions and barracks were bombed from a height of fifty feet. A direct hit was obtained on a 4000-ton freighter west of the island. The attacks were pressed home in the face of an intense barrage. Further powerful forces of bombers raided Northern Germany, the principal attack being on the German naval base at Kiel, .where the shipyards were bombed and a number of fires started. The docks at Boulogne were also attacked. Two British aircraft failed to return.
