GREEK SUCCESSES

TEN ENEMY AIRCRAFT DESTROYED NAZI STORY OF BRITISH WITHDRAWAL. ADDITIONAL TROOPS IN FACT LANDING. The destruction of ten enemy aircraft by the Greeks is reported in a Greek communique, transmitted by the 8.8. C., which states that in Albania local offensive operations by Italians were repulsed with serious loss to the enemy. In Western Macedonia the orderly movement of Greek troops towards new positions is being carried out. Ten enemy aircraft were shot down by anti-aircraft gun fire and in aerial combat.

Axis reports allege that the British are withdrawing from Greece, but it is stated in London that far from any withdrawal fresh British troops have been sent to reinforce those already there.

FRONT ADJUSTED GREEK OFFICIAL REPORT. (Received This Day. 11.35 a.m.) LONDON, April 15. A Greek communique says: ‘'Further fighting occurred between tank units in the Ptolemais region. German forces pushed towards Klisura, Kozhani and Siatista. (Klisura forms, with Kozhani and Siatista, a triangle about midway between the Gulf of Salonika and the Albanian frontier). As a result of the occupation of Southern Yugoslavia by German forces and the consequent opening of the passes leading from Yugoslav territory to the flanks and rear of our army on the Northern Albanian front, it was ordered, for operational reasons, to withdraw from the Koritza region. Enemy offensive actions at different points on the rest of the Albanian front were repulsed. ENEMY CLAIMS (Received This Day. 11.35 a.m.) LONDON, April 15. A German communique claims that German and Italian troops have continued the encirclement of" the remnants of the Serbian Army, which is offering local resistance in the MestarSarajev.o area. It adds: “Motorised units and troops in Northern Greece, thrusting southward, threw back British infantry and armoured units and took Ptolemais and Kozhani. Other units advanced southwards from Salonika. The Greeks on the Albanian front are yielding to the Italians. Part of the pursuing Italian army has advanced southwards froth Koritza.”
