ALLIES HOLDING STRONG LINE GERMANS CONCENTRATING IN MONASTIR AREA. YUGOSLAV ARMY LARGELY INTACT. The Greek Press Ministry states that the Germans appear to be concentrating forces and supplies in the Monastir area, the 8.8. C. re-
ports. The enemy is being mercilessly bombed and machine-gun-
ned by British and Greek planes.
'The failure of the initial Germart attempt to break through, together' with the continued and effective reinforcement of the Allied line, confirms the view that a very strong front, has been established. The area does not lend
itself to mechanical lightning operations and the position may be regarded as satisfactory.
It appears that the great bulk of the Yugoslav army has remained intact and has retired to the mountains. The situation in southern Yugoslavia has improved during the past 48 hours. Yugoslav troops swept down from their mountain positions and attacked the Germans, causing considerable casualties.
