TIRAUMEA

COMING OF AGE PARTY ENJOYABLE GATHERING. (“Times-Age" Special.) A very enjoyable party was given recently in the Tiraurnea Hall by Mr and Mrs Wallis, to celebrate the coming of age of their son Lionel. There were about 120 guests, coming from Wellington. Eketanuna, Masterton. Pongaroa, Alfredton and the surrounding districts.

The music for dancing was supplied by Mrs G. Houlbrooke and Mr A. Rowden, and extras were played by Mr Hislop and Mr Harman. The duties of M.C. were capably carried out by Mr Pat Donovan. At a suitable interval Mr Donovan called on Mr Scott Raleigh to propose the toast to the guest of honour, this being done with musical honours. Mr Lionel Wallis then cut the two-tiered birthday cake, a piece of which was handed around the hall to every guest, after which he, suitably replied. Mr Donovan proposed the toast of Mr and Mrs Wallis and Mr Wallis replied. Mr and Mrs Wallis then provided the guests with a sit down supper in the lounge, after which dancing* continued until early hours of .the ,morning. The large number of presents on view testified to the popularity of the guest of honour. The Lucky Spot waltz was won by Mr L. Curtis and Miss D. Hart, and the Monte Carlo by Mr and Mrs A. McLean. The gathering was brought to a close with the singing of Auld Lang Syne and the National Anthem. Personal Items.
