A mishap causing the derailment of a passenger car and damage to the permanent way occurred in the Wellington Railway Station this morning. The Stationmaster declined to give any information, but it was learned that a line of carriages being backed into a platform crashed into a buffer with such force that the buffer was dislodged, rails thrown out of alignment, and sleepers torn up for several yards. The carriages were not damaged, but the middle one came to rest with its wheels off the rails and its side leaning against the platform. Train services were hot interfered with.
