SUNDAY SCHOOL
WELLINGTON DISTRICT ANNUAL CONVENTION GATHERING IN MASTERTON DURING EASTER. MANY PHASES OF ACTIVITY. The thirty-sixth annual convention of the Wellington Sunday School Union is being held in Masterton during Easter. The sessions opened at 10 a.m. yesterday morning with a period of devotion and meditation, the delegates then amending Knox Presbyterian Church for a combined Communion service conducted by the Rev John Davie.
At 2.30 p.m. Mr H. E. Brooker, the president of the Wellington Sunday School Union, welcomed delegates and visitors to the convention, 73 teachers answering the roll call. An address on “The Teacher’s Responsibility" was given by Mr G. W. Morice, chairman of the Masterton Convention Committee, and Superintendent of the Knox Sunday School. This fine address was appreciated by those present and questions and discussion followed. Mr Morice was thanked for his address.
In the evening delegates joined in the combined service of Witness and Fellowship usually held in Masterton on Good Friday.
.This morning addresses: were-given by the Rev David McNeur on "The Place of the Old Testament in Sunday School Teaching” and by Mr A. W. Reed on "Books That Help.” This afternoon delegates were the guests of the Presbyterian Bible Class Camp at Wairarapa College, where a sports meeting was held.
Tonight, Mr W. F. Stock, of Wellington, will address the gathering on "The Teacher’s Personal Preparation.” Tomorrow delegates will attend public worship in the morning and evening and in the afternoon a primary demonstration will be given in the Knox Primary Department by Miss Lois McGregor. Two addresses will be given on Monday morning—-" Visual Education and Poster Work” by Miss Eliffe, and “Special Days in Sunday School” by Mr J. H. Purdie.
The delegates, who arc being accommodated in the Y.M.C.A. and the Knox Sunday School, return home on Monday afternoon.
