He insisted that Japan would not use force to realise her ambitions. * Prince Konoye’s statement was made at a Press conference. Japanese reports state that he appeared optimistic regarding United Slates-Japanese relations. but acknowledged that Japan's membership of the Axis and the continuation of the China conflict were obstacles against complete amity with Washington. Asked if he thought United StatesJapanese relations will deteriorate, Prince Konoye replied, “I do not think so.”
