This depletion was due mainly on account of members joining the fighting forces or engaging in performing various war duties. A particularly pleasing feature of the year's work was the keenness shown by all members and supporters, and every encouragement was given runners, especiallj' to the junior section. In competitions the club met with a good measure of success and the standard was well up to that of previous seasons. Races for individual honour in championship events were always most interesting and hard-fought and the committee wish to congratulate the following winners:— R. Greeks, Mills Challenge Cup for 6.| mile club championship and Albert Cox Cup for 5 mile club championship; W. Teahan, Batkin Cup for 3 1-8 mile novice championship; N. Jacobsen, Turnbull Cup for 2J mile junior championship and Batkin Trophy for 3 1-B.mile junior championship.
