Anybody who has done night sentry duty knows that it is possible to make mistakes. An inquiry has recently been held into the action of a sentry who fired at a petrol can. He maintained, even afterwards, that, he had seen a man. “I challenged him. three times” said the sentry. “He did not halt, so 1 shot, and he burst into flames.”
