The Hon. R. Semple. Minister of National Service, returned to Wellington from lhe north today.
The Hon. W. E. Parry. Minister of Internal Affairs, returned to Wellington from Auckland yesterday.
The Hon. H. T. Armstrong. Minister of Public Works, returned to Wellington yesterday from the north. Mr. H. A. McLeod, who has been member of the Wellington Waterfront Control Commission since it was se; up last April, has tendered his resignation to the Government. Interviewed last night, lie declined to discuss lhe reasons for his action.
The death occurred yesterday in his eighty-seventh year, of Mr William Fraser Edmond, till recently manag-ing-director of the well-known firm. John Edmond. Ltd., which was founded by his fattier. He had wide business interests and occupied positions on the directorate of a number of public companies. He is survived by his wife, two sons and one daughter. The Grand Old Man of the Anglican Church in Auckland. Archdeacon George MacMurrav, died early yesterday morning in his 86th year. Archdeacon Mac Murray made his last public appearance when he spoke al St. Mary's Cathedral on the occasion of the election of Bishop Simkin. He was obviously ill and did not wail, to record his vote'. He retired from office as Archdeacon of Auckland in December. 1938. having celebrated his ministerial diamond jubilee a few days earlier. He is survived by his wife.
