MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting was held on I Monday, there being present Mesdames Steel, Armstrong, Udy and Trapp. | Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Wells, Robinson and Dyer. The nurse's report for March stated inter alia: New cases, mothers 3. babies 3: visits to homes, new cases 13, old cases 64. older children 17; visits to rooms, adults 31, babies 76, cider children 10. The amount received from the shop day on March 28 was £25 19s, the dinner bringing in £7 2s and the copper trail just over £5. ' Accounts amounting to £2l Ils Id were passed for payment. Tar Tank. The erection of the new concrete tar tank to replace the old one has been commenced by the contractors, and good progress is being made with the work. Home Guard. There was a large attendance of members of the Home Guard at the King's Theatre and Showgrounds last evening. The men were put through drill movements, the whole company showing improvement under the command of efficient and keen officers. Personal. Mrs C. Holland, of Garrison Street. Carterton, who has been an inmate of Masterton Hospital, has returned to her home. i Mrs Young, of Wairoa, is a visitor to Carterton.
