TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD

MEETING IN MASTERTON SIXTH YEAR COMMENCED. WINNERS OF POINTS PRIZES. A meeting of the Masterton Townswomen’s Guild held in the Y.M.C.A. Hall yesterday afternoon, marked the commencement of tlio Guild’s sixth year.

Mrs E. J. Burke, the newly elected president, presided over a good attendance, and welcomed members and ,'isitors, expressing the wish that all enjoy the programmes arranged for he year. The president paid tribute to he work carried out last year by the president and vice-president, Mesdamcs Bennett and Judd respectively. Two delegates, Mesdamcs Burke and Zopp, were elected to attend a meeting which is to be hold in the W.D.F.U. rest room.

Mrs N. E. Shouler gave a travel talk in her "Travelling Experiences" and (his was enjoyed by all.

A musical monologue entitled “The Clown," was given by Mrs E. M. Church, accompanied by Mrs E. J. .Coleman, and was much appreciated. The winners of the points prizes are as follow: —Worked articles, Mrs Davis Goff; cooking, Mrs S. F. Taylor. Each were presented with a dainty cup, saucer and plate. Afternoon tea was served and then an interesting demonstration on "felt work” was given by Mrs G. Dagg, who displayed numerous articles such as sags, needle covers, tea cosies, pot holders. made from old felt hats. Mrs Dagg was thanked for her demonstration and presented with a dainty shoulder spray by Mrs E. J. Burke.
