SILENT PRAYER
COMMENDED TO PEOPLE OF NEW ZEALAND BY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL AND PREMIER. CHIMES OF BIG BEN AT 9 p.m. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. [ The Governor-General (Sir C. Newall) and the Primo Minister (Mi - . Fraser) commend the adoption in New Zealand of the practice in Britain of daily silent prayer. Mr. Fraser announced that arrangements had been made for the recording of the striking of the chimes-of Big Ben over all stations, national and commercial, at 9 p.m., so that during that time, as commended by the King, the people of New Zealand may join in spirit with the people of the United Kingdom by spending this time in silent prayer.
