The Governor-General. Sir Cyril Newall. has accepted the office of patron of the branches of the Navy League in New Zealand.
The Hon A. Hamilton, member of the War Cabinet, returned to Wellington from the South Island yesterday morning.
The friends of Major Neeve, of the local Salvation Army Corps, will regret to learn that he has had to enter hospital for treatment. Messrs M. Casey and W. Gilbert are to be nominated by the Wellington Bowling Centre as representatives ol the North Island on the New Zealand Bowling Council. This was decided at a meeting of the centre last night.
The death occurred yesterday at Masterion of Mr Thomas Greenland, of Kopuaranga. The funeral will take place on Friday, leaving Hie late residence, following a service at 2 p.m. for the To Ore Ore Native Cemetery.
The Hon D. Wilson. Loader of the Legislative Council and Minister m Charge of Broadcasting, returned to Wellington yesterday from Auckland, where he attended the ceremony held at Bastion Point on Sunday to mark the first anniversary of the death of the Rt Hon IVL ,1. Savage.
