The Ashburton Trotting Club’s meeting was held on Saturday in fine weather before a large attendance. The track was in first-class order. The totalisator handled £25,091 10s, against £22,931 last year. The judicial committee found C. King, driver of Surprise Potts, guilty of interference with Special Force in the New Zealand Futurity Stakes, and reduced him to D grade till July 31 next. Special Force was unplaced in the Futurity Stakes. Zincali established a fresh New Zealand grass track record for one mile and a half. Results were:— Allenton Handicap, 3.49 class; one mile and a half: 4/5 Lady Scott, scr (Butterfield) 1; 3/2 Shaun Aroon, scr, 2; 5/3 Suspense, scr, 3. Bomber unseated his driver at the start, and Cockney and Muraahi fell. Muraahi was later destroyed. Three lengths; 12. Time, 3.26.
