CLUB MATCH RED STAR SENIORS V, JUNIORS. FAST SCORING. The fastest scoring ever seen in Masterton in a match was recorded on Saturday afternoon at the Park Oval in the annual club game between the Red Star seniors (winners of the Wairarapa senior championship and Bidwill Knock-out Cup) and the Red Star juniors (runners-up in the Wairarapa Junior Championship and winners of the Wairarapa Cricket Association’s Knock-out Cup). The latter were conceded 100 runs and allowed to bat 22 men. They registered 278 altogether, Minifie giving an excellent display for 38. Other double-figure scorers were Henson 17, Hayes 16. Harrington 13. R. Hoar 11, and Price 10. The seniors had 279 to get to win in 1J hours, and it looked as if the juniors would secure the victory, but in that time the seniors hit up 288 for 3 wickets, the scoring rate being over 186 per hour. Newman Hoar played a magnificent innings for 149 not out. I. Coleman (51), W. Peterson (36), and Bell 30 not out, also batted well. In the evening the juniors entertained the seniors at a dinner when a most enjoyable time was spent. IN OTHER CENTRES Wellington—The official cricket season in Wellington was brought to a close on Saturday, when Kilbirnie, Cricket association champions, beat a strong Mercantile League representative te&m by an innings and 90 runs, with two minutes to spare. The League team scored 52 and 63 and Kilbirnie 205 for four wickets. Dunedin.—The championship final on Saturday between Albion-Y.M.C.A. and Carisbrook B was drawn, play being stopped at 5.38 p.m. because of failing light. Details: Carisbrook B, 296 for 9 declared, Albion-Y.M.C.A. 171 for 9 wickets. Each team had 40 points and they will probably be bracketed level as winners of the competition.
