WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING. ("Times-Age" Special.) 'The monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute was held on Friday. The attendance was very good. Invitations had been sent to foul' members, who have left the district, to attend the meeting—Misses Clarkson and Napier and Mesdames Spring and Didsbury. Mrs Didsbury was the only one able to attend. Letters were received from Misses Clarkson and Napier thanking the institute members for the gifts, forwarded. Mrs Didsbury was the recipient of a lovely posy from Miss Nancy Hull, and a Doulton dish. Mrs Didsbury thanked the members for their gift and wishes. A posy and gift were sent to Miss Spring as she was unable to attend. Dr Simmers gave a very interesting talk on first aid and demonstrations on various bones of the arms and legs. This talk should be of benefit to members of the Women’s Auxiliary, of which about forty members were present. The competitions resulted as follows: Mittens (to be sent to the soldiers overseas): Mrs Seymour 1. Mrs Payne 2, Mrs F. McLean 3. Flowers: Mrs Low, with a beautiful mauve dahlia) 1, Mrs Dickens (also a dahlia) 2, Mrs E. McLean (geranium) 3. A bring and buy stall was very successful. Mrs Stone-Wigg and Miss Barbara Napier were welcomed as new members. The hostesses were Mrs A. and G. Napier and Miss Barbara Napier.
