NAZI INVASION

DENOUNCED BY MR HULL AS BARBARIC PROMISE OF SPEEDY AMERICAN AID. I CONFERENCE WITH PRESIDENT. (Received This Day. noon.) WASHINGTON. April G. Mr. Cordell Hull, Secretary of State, conferred with President • Roosevelt and also with officials of the State Department, after which he described the German invasion as barbaric, and pledged American aid to Yugoslavia as speedily as possible. He said he had instructed the American Minister, Mr. Lane, to remain with the Yugoslav Government, loaving a senior official in charge of the Belgrade Legation. In a statement after meeting President Roosevelt, Mr. Hull said! “The barbaric invasion of Yugoslavia and the attempt tc annihilate that country by brute force, is but another chapter in the present planned movement of attempted world conquest and domination.” “Another small nation has been assaulted by the forces of aggression,” Mr Hull continued, “and this is further proof that there is no geographical limitation or bounds of any kind to their movement for world conquest. “The American people have the greatest sympathy for the nation which has thus been outrageously attacked, and we follow closely the valiant struggle the Yugoslavs are making to protect their homes and preserve their liberty. Our Government, with its policy of helping those defending themselves against would-be conquerors, is now proceeding as speedily as possible to send military and other supplies to Yugoslavia.”
