FELT THIS MORNING IN MASTERTON. A slight shock of earthquake was experienced in Masterton at 6.45 0 clock this morning. The tremor was of short duration. QUITE VIGOROUS. SHOCK IN WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Proceeded by loud and lengthy rumbling, quite a vigorous earthquake was felt throughout the city and suburbs shortly before 7 a.m. The strength, as measured on the RossiForel scale, was about four or iive, varying in different localities. No damage is reported. “From recordings at the Dominion Observatory a preliminary analysis places the centre about 80 or 90 miles from Wellington, but the direction will only be ascertained after reports have been received from other places.
