LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS
NOMINATIONS FOR CANDIDATES. CLOSING EARLY IN MAY. Although the local body elections will be held throughout New Zealand on Saturday, May 17, as far as the Wai- j rarapa district is concerned no candidates have yet been announced. Elections will take place for borough and county councils, river boards, Wairarapa Electric Power Board, Wairarapa Hospital Board, and Wairarapa representatives on the Wellington Harbour Board. Nominations for candidates will be called on or about April 22 and all nominations for the Masterton Mayoralty, Borough Council and borough representatives on the Power Board, Hospital Board and Harbour Board must be in before noon on Monday, May 5. No borough elector is entitled to more than one vote. Should he elect to vote on behalf of a firm, company or association of persons he loses his own personal vote. The Masterton borough supplementary electors’ list, which is now being prepared, will close at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 19. This date will be the last opportunity for those eligible to enrol.
