Yaralla, the unbeaten two-year-old colt, faded into third place in the Fairfield Handicap for colts. Astrid failed to gain a place in the Fillies’ Division of the same race. Both High Caste and Beau Vite were defeated in the Chipping Norton Plate. High. Caste was kicked at the post, a hind leg being bared almost to the bone.
