The Associated Live Stock Auctioneering Association report as follows on their Masterton Sale held in conjunction with the first Autumn Cattle Fail’ yesterday;— A full yarding of sheep came forward comprised chiefly of lambs, and attracted a large and representative attendance of buyers. From the outset competition was keen and good forward conditioned lambs showed an improvement on oui’ last week’s sale. Fat sheep and store ewes remained on a firm market. The following list of our principal sales will indicate values: —Good shorn ewe lambs, a/c. P. Paku, 20s 9d; medium ewe lambs, 15s 6d., 165.. 16s. 6d.; good forward wether lambs a/c. A. A full yarding of cattle came forward. there being approximately 2600 head yarded, the quality of which was good, the cattle showing both breeding and condition, the latter due no doubt to the favourable season. Buyers were in attendance from all the local districts, but outside districts were not well represented and at the conclusion of the sale very few cattle went outside the district. Competition throughout on male cattle was keen and prices in the majority of cases exceeded vendor’s ideas of values, but when the female section was reached prices eased somewhat, and IJ-year heifers, in our opinion, were neglected and made prices well below those ruling at the spring fairs. There were some very good lines of 31 and 41-year steers yarded, and a good pen of forward 41years offered on account of Mrs Ahrens topped the sale at 10 guineas. The 31year section was topped by a nice forward line on account' of 1 Mr. O. A. Bunny at £8 17s. Other good pens of 3|-year steers made from £8 15s to £8 17s. The 21-year steers were topped by a line on account of Mr. F. Tildesley, Mangamahoe. at £7 16s. and the 18months by a well bred pen offered on account of Mr. E. W. Cheetham at £6 13s. Other good lines in this section were on account of the Falloon Estate £5 13s, and lan Macßae £6. The quality of the fat cattle yarded was poor and prices accordingly were not good, A good clearance was effected under the hammer, and the following list of principal sales will indicate values: 41-year steers, account Mrs. Ahrens 10 gns, ac.
