AUSTRALIAN MOVE

MORE BUTTER STORAGE. Additional refrigerated storage for butter, costing about £500,000 will be provided immediately in Australia following the decisions of a conference between the Minister for Commerce (Sir Earle Page) and a representative of the butter industry in Melbourne. Sir Earle said additional cold storage was necessary not only because of transport difficulty between Australia and Britain, but also because of possible dislocation of internal distribution through interruptions of seaborne interstate and coastal trade. Butter industry representatives agreed to contribute towards the provision of extra refrigerated space at factory towns and ports of export, but said the provision of extra space at distribution centres should be paid for by the Commonwealth and State Governments.
