WORKMEN’S FRIEND No. 2. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Workmen’s Friend No. 2 Building Society was held last night, Mr. W. Kemp presiding over a fair attendance of members. The annual report and balance sheet was adopted. The report showed that the society had made good progress during the year, the sum of £l7OO having been appropriated by ballot and £4OO by sale. The retiring Directors, Messrs. W. Kemp, C. W. Walker, E. H. Morton and H. L. Price were re-elected. Mr. A. W. G. HoHings was. appointed the shareholders’ auditor for the ensuing year. Mr. E. E. Anderson, West Shore, Napier, was the successful tenderer for an appropriation of £4OO by sale. Mr. A. W. G. Rollings wrote tendering his resignation as secretary to the society on account of illhealth. In doing so he thanked the directors for the courtesy and co-oporation extended to him during the 21 years he had held the position and wished the society every success in the future. The chairman referred to the regret they all felt at the decision of Mr. Rollings to retire from the position he had occupied for so many years. During this long term, Mr. Rollings had given faithful and conscientious service, and his wide business experience and knowledge had proved of great value to the society. Mr. Kemp expressed the hope that Mr. Rollings would make a speedy recovery and enjoy many years of well earned rest in his retirement. I
Mr. T. W. Leete ably endorsed the remarks of the chairman and proposed that as a mark of appreciation a bonus should bo granted to Mr. Rollings. This proposal on being put to the meeting was carried unanimously. At the subsequent meeting of the Directors, Mr. W. V. Madden was appointed secretary of the society. MEETING OF DIRECTORS. The monthly meeting of Directors was held after the annual meeting there being present, Messrs. W. Kemp T. B. Braggins, A. V. Dixon, E. J. Brown. E. H. Morton, A. E. Hubbard. C. W. Walker, S. M. Gilding and H. L. Price. Mr W. Kemp was unanimously elected chairman of directors, and Mr. T. B. Braggins was unanimously re-elected vice-chairman. Mr. H. J. Fairchild was re-elected directors' auditor. It was decided that the directors' meetings be held on the first Wednesday in each month as hitherto.
