FEATHERSTON

TENNIS CLUB SEASON CLOSED AT KAHUTARA. ("Times-Age” Special.) The Kahutara Club closed their courts on Saturday. Mi- Playle said that he was very pleased at the sporting way in which the competitions had been carried out. The winners of trophies had had a hard fight. He hoped the play would be as keen, next year. Out of seven country clubs which had started some years ago, the Kahutara Club was the only one now in existence. Mr A. C. Pearce presented the cups and trophies as follows:—Girls’ handicap singles, Miss M. Juno; boys’ handicap singles. G. Hood; handicap doubles, A. Juno and Miss C. Bargh; championship, men. R. Playle; ladies, C. Bargh. The courts may be used until Easter.

Personal. Mrs Hazard, Karori, who has been the guest of Mrs Harkness, returned home today. Agricultural Clubs. The following officers were elected . at the annual meeting of the Featherston group of the Boys’ and Girls' Agricultural Clubs: —Patron, Mr R. W. I Matthews; president. Mr G. T. Cole; vice-presidents, Messrs H. C. Playle, R. R. P. Hardy; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. E. Willett; auditor, Mi - F. S. Hayes; committee, Messrs C. Buck, D. Robertson, P. Gain, G. Farrier, F. Jansen and the following subject to their acceptance, Messrs J. G. Donald, L. E. Southey, N. Parker and C. Warren; delegates to the central executive, Messrs C. Buck and R. R. P. Hardy; social committee, Messrs G. T. Cole, J. E. Willett, R. R. P. Hardy, C. Buck and D. Robertson. It was decided to re-introduce membership cards again this year. The annual report stated that as the finances of the group were in a satisfactory condition, no direct appeal foxdonations was made during the year. The yeax- finished with a good credit balance in spite of the fact that expenses were heavier than in the past. Eileen Deste, the well known Wellington photographer, is visiting Featherston. Her studio will b’e at the Parish Hall on Wednesday and Thursday and possibly Friday. Miss Deste was the official exhibition photographer.
